CRIME NEWS

  • Radelle Hubbard, a man from Springfield, pleaded guilty to a 2023 bank robbery in Smithfield after a witness gave police his car make and license plate which led to a chase and arrest, and police found a high-capacity firearm and cash in his car—he will be sentenced by a federal judge in June.  NewsRadio 560 WHYN
  • Tuesday afternoon, a shooting at Union Station on Frank B. Murray Street injured two people who were taken by ambulance to Baystate Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries and police arrested three suspects a few blocks away near Edwards—Elliot—and Chestnut streets.  MassLive

  • The Berkshire Bank Foundation gave $20,000 to Square One’s 'Back to Square One' campaign to support a new early learning and family support center in Springfield’s South End and boost local education. The center will open in June and renovations for an adjacent building donated by Balise Auto will follow—ensuring more space for growing services.  BusinessWest
  • Students from Western Massachusetts and Northern Connecticut who plan to work in journalism can apply for $1,000 scholarships offered by The Valley Press Club. They have until April 4 to submit typed or computer applications with each page numbered and bearing the applicant’s name—submissions may be sent by mail or email.  MassLive
