CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Police investigated a shooting outside Union Station on Tuesday at about 3:45 p.m.—two victims were taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and three individuals were detained, including a teen who struck a detective while fleeing. Western Mass News
- ➤ On Tuesday at 7 p.m., West Springfield Police arrested Sara Ann Frazier and Amanda Lyn Amer at Dick's Sporting Goods after an undercover detective saw them leave with a black trash bag holding nearly $2,247 in stolen merchandise, and they were charged with possession of burglarious tools, unlawful removal of a theft detection device and larceny over $1,200. - ➤ Nearly a dozen Massachusetts legislators traveled to Canada to visit the Robert-Bourassa hydroelectric power station in Quebec as part of a fact-finding mission to explore cleaner energy options that could lower high electricity rates. They toured the facility and discussed a future partnership to deliver hydroelectric power through existing transmission lines with minimal energy loss. The Reminder
- ➤ The Hampden District Attorney’s Office hosted its annual 'Stop the Swerve' event on March 26th at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, where community members tried impaired driving simulation goggles, completed distracted driving exercises, and listened to personal stories from those affected by reckless driving. Eligible high school students entered a raffle for free driving school and cash prizes for their schools amid warnings that 10,000 lives are lost each year to drunk driving. Western Mass News
- ➤ Springfield officials met at Greenleaf community center on Wednesday (March 26) to announce plans for enhanced patrols and enforcement against illegal dirt bike riding on public streets.
