- ➤ On Friday, Springfield resident Shauna Peebles shared how rising rents under new management forced her out of her home over a year and a half (she works two jobs while completing her master’s) as federal funding cuts threaten to reduce Section 8 benefits. - ➤ Three men repairing guardrails died when a car hit them near exit 10A on I-91 north in West Springfield around 12:45 this morning, and police arrested 29-year-old Bilal Griffith after he fled on foot, charging him with three counts of manslaughter while he is held on a million dollar bail. - ➤ A man suspected of striking a cyclist in a fatal crash on March 27 turned himself in on Friday and was arrested on charges related to the crash and an unrelated warrant near Parker + Verge streets, where the cyclist was pronounced dead. MassLive
- ➤ Early Friday at 12:45 a.m., workers repairing guardrails on an exit ramp in West Springfield were killed when struck by a speeding SUV, and police later arrested a suspect near Morgan Road—he now faces three counts of manslaughter and one charge for leaving the scene of an accident.
