  • The Springfield Thunderbirds, Hampden County Sheriff’s Office and the YWCA of Western Massachusetts will partner at a game on Saturday, April 4 for Domestic Violence Awareness Night; fans can enter a raffle + win specialty jerseys, with proceeds benefiting support services for survivors.  BusinessWest

  • After impoundment last month, rail car shells from China are headed to CRRC’s Springfield facility to build subway cars for the MBTA, with the first shipment scheduled for early next week and plans to rehire furloughed employees as production resumes.  New England Public Media

  • The Hampden D.A.'s Office hosts the annual Stop the Swerve Event tonight at the Basketball Hall of Fame to educate parents and teen drivers about distracted driving + safe partying, featuring a documentary recounting a fatal crash near Interstate 91 in 2023.  Western Mass News
  • The Massachusetts Senate passed a farm bill on Wednesday that codifies the Health Incentives Program and eases zoning limits on agritourism — measures aimed at supporting local farmers as they struggle to turn a profit.   • State transportation officials announced $1.2 million in federal funds for the Compass Rail project at Union Station in Springfield to install train control, boosting service north on the Inland Route linking Springfield, Worcester, and Boston. Work will start around 2030 and continue until the full plan is completed by 2045.  New England Public Media
