  • On Saturday, people marched in Springfield in a Defend Democracy event called '1775 to 2025: The Revolution Continues' to remember the first battles of the American Revolution and protest threats to their rights; organizers from Rise Up Western Mass Indivisible and Defending Democracy in Hampden County said turnout was strong and more events are planned in Wilbraham.  Western Mass News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Springfield City Council renewed the terms of three Water and Sewer Commission members after a 90-minute meeting that debated expired terms, volunteer stipends, and water quality concerns. The reappointments of Vanessa Otero, Daniel Rodriguez and Matthew Donnellan aim to restore staggered terms as the city moves forward with the West Parish Filters Water Treatment Plant project that is expected to raise water rates by 6 to 8.5%.  MassLive
