  • Jarvis Rockwell, a noted Western Mass artist and son of renowned painter Norman Rockwell, died at 94 after a stroke at Bay State Medical Center in Springfield on Saturday, April 25; his family requested donations + contributions to the Art Students League scholarship fund in lieu of flowers.  MassLive
  • Eight soon-to-be circus graduates from the New England Center for Circus Arts will present their show 'Broken Open' at the Hope Center for the Arts on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m., featuring trapeze + metal pole acts that tell a story of unity.  MassLive

HEALTH NEWS

  • Baystate Health and Trinity Health of New England signed an agreement to transition Mercy Medical Center pending regulatory approvals. The center will operate independently until the process is complete — ensuring local access to quality care.  BusinessWest

  • The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association released its first power rankings for spring sports on Tuesday, highlighting win margins + records for high schools including Springfield Central.
