  • The Jack Rome Memorial Run-Walk in Fountain Park, Wilbraham, will support the Foundation for TJO Animals by offering a 5k, 10k, or one-mile walk on Sunday with registration at 8:30 a.m. and races beginning at 10 a.m.—local organizers also plan family activities and food trucks to boost fundraising in memory of Jack Rome.  Western Mass News

  • Springfield Police arrested 40-year-old Darin Smith and two teens (the 17-year-old and a 16-year-old caught after fleeing) after a month-long investigation led to a Salem Street search that seized two illegal guns, crack-cocaine, and over $450 in cash.  Western Mass News

  • MGM Springfield has announced that its Free Music Friday concert series will run every Friday from May 23 until September 5 if weather permits. The series will feature area bands, national artists, and The Eagles Experience tribute band + other local favorites.  Western Mass News
  • Vinh Chau at 409 Dickinson St. in Springfield is now owned by Ly Tran, who modernized the restaurant while preserving its traditional Vietnamese flavors. The restaurant simmers bones for pho broth for up to 16 hours+ serves classic dishes that keep a loyal local following.  MassLive

  • May marks 60 years since Head Start began and Holyoke, Chicopee, Springfield Head Start has helped thousands of children in Western Mass (providing early education and family support).
