COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Community leaders were honored during a wall of fame ceremony today at a Springfield venue to recognize their service and contributions to the community. The event celebrated individuals who have helped drive positive local change.  Western Mass News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Bay Path University held its graduation ceremony for the Class of 2026 on Sunday at 4 p.m. at the MassMutual Center, where over 700 students received their degrees and heard inspirational speeches (including one by CFO Lisa McCarthy).  Western Mass News
  • Thirteen high school students are creating videos and a children’s book to help reduce bullying by explaining invisible disabilities. The project launched Oct. 1 with support from the Hampden District Attorney Youth Advisory Board and now involves over 70 students from area schools.  MassLive
  • Springfield Public Schools hosted a Family Expo Saturday afternoon that featured a resource fair with over 80 nonprofits offering after school programs to support groups, live entertainment, raffles and a parade highlighting fashion designer Justin Hayes as grand marshal.  Western Mass News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Residents and visitors in downtown Springfield can park at the Taylor Street Parking Garage for a flat $5 fee after 5 p.m., the Springfield Parking Authority announced.  Western Mass News
  • Town officials met with local residents on April 27 to discuss plans for redesigning the Agawam intersection with new crosswalks, though many question the need and cost after concerns about parking loss at Pajer Superette. The council will vote on the plan at a future meeting.  MassLive

SPORTS NEWS

  • Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez expressed full support for head coach Mike Vrabel during a charity softball event today amid controversy over photos of Vrabel with a former NFL insider — Gonzalez said he will not comment on internal team discussions and remains loyal to his coach.  MassLive
  • The Bruins closed their season Friday and will soon decide on key players for the 2026–27 season. They are weighing free agency and trade options for players such as Viktor Arvidsson (25 goals, 29 assists) and goalie Joonas Korpisalo as part of offseason planning.  MassLive
  • Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy has been summoned for an NHL disciplinary hearing after his actions in Game 6 loss to the Sabres. He said he will speak with the league when the hearing is scheduled + he will not comment further until then.  MassLive
