  • Saturday marked the second annual Bands for Brittney fundraiser, presented by Hyundai Hope on Wheels, that featured live music, food, and kids' activities while raising funds for childhood cancer research and support for local families. The event honored Brittney Bliss, who died from cancer at age five in 2023—and the community continues to build on her legacy.  Western Mass News
  • On Saturday, the Spirit of Springfield held the annual World’s Largest Pancake Breakfast as residents gathered to enjoy pancakes despite misty weather. CRIME NEWS

  • Two Springfield men were indicted on federal drug trafficking charges for distributing crack cocaine and fentanyl in Vermont last fall — they pleaded not guilty during separate arraignments in Burlington and remain held without bail on pending state homicide charges.  MassLive

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Springfield City Council voted 13-0 last week to approve a new 5,000-gallon diesel tank at the Peter Pan Bus Lines garage on 11 Liberty St.—The move will let Peter Pan resume fueling its vehicles onsite at lower wholesale rates after removing a temporary 500-gallon tank, following a meeting with Metro Center Association members to review safety concerns.  MassLive
