  • The YWCA of Western Massachusetts elected Dawn Fleury (treasurer and executive committee member), Kiana Lowe, and Mollie Sullivan to its board as part of the Shifting the Paradigm campaign, adding expertise in finance, communications and social services to support local women and families.  BusinessWest
  • The O’Dell Women’s Center hosted a celebration in Springfield that honored organizations and community leaders helping women gain economic stability (including Bay Path University and United Way). The event announced a future commitment of $750,000, adding to $1.5 million donated since the center’s founding.  BusinessWest

  • BusinessWest will honor young professionals in its 20th annual 40 Under Forty awards on Thursday, June 11 at 5 p.m. at the MassMutual Center — honorees are featured in BusinessWest's April 27 issue and online — with the Alumni Achievement Award winner revealed.  BusinessWest

CULTURE NEWS

  • 52 Sumner in Forest Park will host a busy summer with a free concert by blues-rock artist Kurt Allen on June 11, a Serial Killer Speakeasy from June 25–27, a return show by Grammy winner Kingfish on Aug. 9, plus the Pioneer Valley Ska Festival on July 24–25.  MassLive

EDUCATION NEWS

  • AMR’s Earn While You Learn EMT program celebrated its graduates Monday in Springfield — friends, family and local officials gathered to honor the new EMT-Bs who now hold state certification and increased pay. Launched in 2019, the 12-week course gives paid work experience paired with EMT training.  Western Mass News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey announced Monday that health insurance companies are required to limit cost-sharing increases to 3.6 percent from 4.8 percent for plans sold in the merged market beginning in 2027 + the lower cap aims to help patients afford care.  Western Mass News
  • Baystate Health picked the former Smithland Pet and Garden Center at 144 West St. in Ware for its new Mary Lane Convenient Care center (offering four exam rooms, imaging, and laboratory services) that will open in nine to 12 months, marking its return after the old hospital closed in 2023.  MassLive
