  • A Pennsylvania man and his daughter are walking across Massachusetts — a 157-mile route from Wilbraham to Boston Harbor — to raise money for Erie Homes for Children and Adults, hoping to finish their journey by the end of this coming weekend after raising up to $75,000 in past years.  Western Mass News

  • Starting late summer, Eversource will switch from monthly readings to smart meters that track energy use continuously—helping customers monitor their bills and detect outages faster. Customers will receive a 90-day notice before installation and may opt out for an extra fee.  Western Mass News

  • Hampden County Sheriff Nick Cocchi, who was arrested for drunk driving at MGM Springfield months ago, visited John J. Duggan Academy yesterday to warn students about the dangers of drunk driving—he stressed that no one is above the law.  Western Mass News

  • Governor Maura Healey announced her administration will close all 32 emergency hotel shelters this summer—six months ahead of schedule—after reforms reduced the number of families staying there to fewer than 5,000.  Western Mass News

  • Former President Biden was diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer that spread to his bones, which raised questions about why his physical did not detect the disease earlier. Dr. Philip Glynn from Trinity Health of New England said the PSA test can sometimes miss signs of advanced cancer—making early screening essential for most men.  Western Mass News
