COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Balise Collision donated a fully refurbished car to single father Quentin Stallworth-Noiles through the National Auto Body Council’s Recycled Rides program — a team effort that required nearly 60 man hours — to help him regain reliable transportation for his three daughters. This act of community support comes as he works to rebuild stability after time spent in shelter and job loss.  Western Mass News
  • Bulkley Richardson returned on May 1 to the YMCA’s camp at Stony Brook Acres in Wilbraham for its annual cleanup that readies the site for next month’s campers. Forty-six staff painted tables, mulched trails, power washed changing rooms, and did yard work (honoring partner Jeff Poindexter).  BusinessWest
  • Country Bank pledged $100,000 to support the YWCA's $7.5m campaign aimed at boosting violence prevention and survivor services in Western Mass. Chief Risk Officer Dawn Fleury (now on the YWCA board) said the donation will expand programs for children and families.  BusinessWest

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A new $50 scratch ticket game, $500,000 FRENZY, released on May 12, saw its first $500K prize claimed at a Shell gas station in Buzzards Bay (over 480 prizes were claimed statewide, including 14 in Springfield).  MassLive

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Springfield High School of Science & Technology opened its new $3 million amphitheater on May 21, 2026, where students celebrated with music and dance. School officials said the space will serve local bands and be shared with other schools and the Parks Department (for extended performances).  MassLive
  • American International College now offers a new bachelor in fire science and emergency services + a fully online master of public administration. The programs, available on campus and online, will prepare students for leadership roles in public service with the next MPA intake beginning July 5.  BusinessWest

  • New England Patriots signed All-Pro safety Kevin Byard during offseason workouts to mentor young safety Craig Woodson ahead of the upcoming NFL season (a move aimed at bolstering the team’s defense) (according to team representatives).  MassLive
