  • Casa Italiana now bars felons from joining the club at 13 Winthrop St. in the South End as it shifts from a past of organized crime to a family-friendly venue. President Sal Circosta said the club's revived Italian Feast in 2025 & free Italian lessons boosted membership to 300.  MassLive

HEALTH NEWS

  • Raaw Energy expanded its voluntary listeria dog food recall across the East Coast after tests identified a potential contamination; affected items produced between July 17, 2025 and Dec. 23, 2025 (plus one additional batch) must be discarded immediately. The company halted production on May 21 to improve sanitation and testing.  MassLive
  • Baystate Health hosted emergency preparedness sessions for EMS professionals at Six Flags New England during EMS week in Agawam; participants practiced simulation scenarios and a mock mass casualty drill to build local disaster response skills.  Western Mass News

  • Franklin Tech softball won its first-ever Western Mass. Class C title on Saturday, May 23 at Westfield State University by defeating Lenox 5-2, marking a turnaround season after early struggles. Coach Joe Gamache praised the team’s dedication and highlighted ace pitcher Brayleigh Burgh for her composure.  MassLive
  • Longmeadow boys track claimed its fifth straight Western Mass Division I title on Saturday by scoring 187 points and outpacing its nearest rival by 125+ in a dominating meet that showcased strong performances on both track and field events.  MassLive
  • The Pope Francis boys lacrosse team clinched the Western Mass Class B title at Berte Field on Saturday when Cam Dunaj scored the go-ahead goal with 22 seconds left against Amherst, earning the Cardinals their eighth straight win.  MassLive
  • Agawam boys lacrosse captured its first WMass Class A title by defeating Minnechaug 13-6, with a 7-1 run in the second half; the win follows a tough season with three losses, and the team now prepares for the state tournament next week.  MassLive
  • Greenfield baseball secured the Western Mass Class C title by beating Lenox 4-3 in 17 innings on Saturday, May 23 at MacKenzie Stadium (Holyoke). Malik Moore walked off the game to clinch the win.  MassLive
  • The Western Mass. Division II Track & Field Championships took place on Friday, May 22 at West Springfield High School. Thirty-three teams competed in events from sprints to jumps, and the Mount Greylock girls track team claimed the title.  MassLive
  • Mount Greylock boys track team clinched the Western Mass Division II title Friday, May 22, at Hampshire Regional High School after a relay finish won by a 0.07-second margin (led by returning runner Mason Canata). They scored 88 points and secured eight top-three finishes ahead of Pittsfield.  MassLive
  • East Longmeadow softball defeated Agawam 8 to 4 at Westfield State University on Saturday, May 23 to capture its first Western Mass Class A title since 1984 + the win boosts the Spartans as they head into the MIAA Division II state tournament.  MassLive
