- ➤ Golfers took to the green on Saturday to raise money for Whip City Animal Sanctuary in their fifth annual golf tournament — the funds will cover veterinary care, food and shelter for rescued farm animals. Western Mass News

- ➤ A malfunctioning dry chemical fire suppression system discharged white powder at the Pride gas station at 1225 Parker St. in Springfield on Sunday afternoon at about 2 p.m., and the Fire Department responded as a precaution (captain Drew Piemonte confirmed no injuries) with an ambulance dispatched. - ➤ On Saturday, Duggan Academy alumni (class of 2005) dug up a 20-year-old time capsule that they will open at their class reunion on July 12. One item inside is a pair of pants signed by classmates. Western Mass News
- ➤ On Saturday, the East Springfield Library Branch hosted 'Autism Is, Autism Isn’t'—an event addressing misconceptions about autism among teenagers and adults of color. A panel of speakers shared their personal experiences and provided information with grant support from the Institute of Museum and Library Services as administered by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. - ➤ Noel Padilla, a Springfield resident who once dropped out of high school, earned his carpentry certificate through the YouthBuild program — gaining a job with a local contractor. The eight‐month program helps 16 to 24-year-olds from western Massachusetts earn HiSET equivalency and develop skills in construction or health care — with support from federal, state and county grants.
