  • Community events in Springfield include a garden party at Forest Park benefiting the Springfield Preservation Trust and an annual Armenian Festival at a local church on Aug.31—organizers say these events are designed to engage residents. A free shuttle service will run between MGM Springfield and Holyoke City Hall for the upcoming St. Patrick’s Parade.  MassLive

  • Springfield Armory is celebrating its 50th National Registry anniversary today—marking five decades of historic contributions to local industry. The event honors the armory’s long-standing role in shaping our community.  Western Mass News
  • On Aug 24 at 1 p.m. guests will join the Springfield Preservation Trust’s Garden Party fundraiser at the Carriage House in Forest Park — a historic site donated by local benefactors. FINANCE NEWS

  • On Saturday, August 16, the Massachusetts State Lottery paid two $100,000 prizes during the daily Mass Cash drawing with winning numbers 2, 9, 19, 22, and 34, with one winning ticket coming from Teele Square Market and the other from a Market Basket in Revere. State records show that at least 310 prizes of $600 or more were claimed statewide — including six in Springfield.  MassLive

  • Red Sox infielder Marcelo Mayer injured his right wrist in Philadelphia on July 23 and will have season-ending surgery soon; he tried to play after the injury but pain stopped his swings and throws and he is expected to recover in three months (recovery time).  MassLive
