  • On Saturday morning, the Springfield Fire Department responded when a car crashed into a tree on Grayson Drive and the injured driver was taken to a nearby hospital—injuries were not life-threatening.  Western Mass News
  • At just after 11 a.m. on Saturday, the Springfield Fire Department responded to a fire on a building's rear porch on State Street and quickly put it out—with no injuries as the Springfield Arson and Bomb Squad investigates.  Western Mass News

  • On August 22nd, a player at MGM Springfield won a $12,823.03 jackpot from a $5 wager on Dragon Link—adding to the casino's record of significant payouts this month. The win came during a period when the casino paid out millions in jackpot prizes.  MassLive

CRIME NEWS

  • On Saturday morning, Springfield police responded to a call on the 400 block of Main Street in Indian Orchard and found a deceased man—detectives are investigating and confirmed there is no public threat.  Western Mass News

  • UMass Football head coach Joe Harasymiak saw his team lose 42—10 in their season opener at McGuirk Stadium after taking an early lead and then trailing as the Temple Owls quickly tied and dominated play.
