- ➤ BusinessWest launched a new podcast series—BusinessTalk—that features Gene Cassidy, president and CEO of Eastern States Exposition, discussing how the Big E fair brings more money and benefits local businesses despite traffic jams from growing attractions. - ➤ Spirit Halloween has returned to Massachusetts with 31 new stores featuring a display called Madison Scare Park that uses interactive animatronics—Twisted Grandma and Trick or Treat Pete—with one location opening on Springfield's Cooley St. MassLive
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Town officials enacted a new 25-mile-per-hour speed limit on Wilbraham roads Monday (to keep pedestrians and cyclists safer) that does not cover major roads (like Boston Road and Tinkham Road) as officers began enforcing the rule. Western Mass News
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Massachusetts Public Health Commissioner Dr. Robbie Goldstein warned that top CDC officials resigned after Susan Monarez was fired for not following political directives, and he worried that the next leader may not have the same scientific values—raising concerns about future vaccine guidance. - ➤ West Springfield High School track star Colton Robinson, a para-athlete, is training to compete in the Sports Illustrated Youth Athlete contest, where the winner earns a photoshoot and a $25,000 prize to add to his college fund.
