  • A Salute to Soldiers will host its seventh annual fundraiser and first annual golf tournament at Tekoa Country Club in Westfield on Oct. 17 to benefit America’s VetDogs, a nonprofit that trains service dogs at no charge for disabled veterans and first responders. The event aims to raise over $20,000 and sponsor three dogs, with golf registration beginning at 10 a.m.—a reception set to start at 4:30 p.m. featuring dinner, live music, and raffle prizes.  BusinessWest

  • Red Fire Farm began construction on its new barn at 34 Carver St. in Granby last month — after its 100-year-old barn burned in February — and launched a GoFundMe to raise $200,000 to cover a funding gap so it can keep serving over 7,000 customers weekly.  BusinessWest

  • On October 4, reality TV star Nicole Polizzi (Snooki) visited Red Rose Pizzeria in Springfield where she, her podcast co-host Joey Camasta, and friends dined for nearly two hours with appetizers, pizzas and drinks. Restaurant owner Rita Caputo-Capua said the group laughed and chatted while praising the food and even joked about a new project.  MassLive
