  • Between July and September, the Berkshire Bank Foundation gave nearly $400,000 to 96 nonprofits in Massachusetts, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Vermont to support important local programs—helping services like mental health and affordable housing grow.  BusinessWest

  • A September survey with 3-011 responses showed that Massachusetts residents most want the Texas chain Whataburger to open while In-N-Out topped the list nationally - the results show local tastes differ from the national trend.  MassLive
  • Carla Cosenzi Zayac, president of Country Nissan in Hadley, was nominated for the 2026 TIME Dealer of the Year award—she is one of 47 select dealers and will attend the NADA Show in Las Vegas on Feb. 5.  BusinessWest

  • yWrite Podcast will host its writers' conference on Saturday, Nov. 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Agawam Senior Center at 954 Main St.—The event offers classes in memoir writing, poetry, and nonfiction with sessions by Nzima Hutchings and Jan Kardys, and registration includes lunch with keynote journalist G.   • Springfield College’s Field House hosted a college fair today that connected more than 60 colleges, armed services — local employers with Springfield Public Schools’ 11th grade students to help them explore their future paths.   • Holyoke Community College Police Chief Jacqueline Robles was honored on Oct. 10 at Bushnell Theater in Hartford as one of 100 Women of Color, an event sponsored by the June Archer Foundation to recognize her public service. Born in Puerto Rico and raised in Springfield, she served 22 years with HCC Police (becoming its first Latina chief) and has earned state recognition (including declarations at the State House) for her leadership.  BusinessWest
