EDUCATION NEWS

  • HCC retired the jersey number of its late alumnus in a campus ceremony that honored his contributions to the college and community — the event celebrated his lasting legacy and brought together current students and faculty.  Western Mass News
  • At Holyoke Community College, the uniform number of former soccer star Amanda Cummings was retired during a 3 p.m. ceremony on O’Connell Field before the game against Bay Path University—her family received a framed uniform—and a jersey will be hung in the college hall of fame. Cummings, who earned All-American honors in 2011, was killed in a Springfield shooting in 2023.  Western Mass News

  • Springfield officials and partners celebrated the restoration of the historic turret clock on the Masonic Building at 113-115 State St during a lighting ceremony on Friday evening, October 18. The project is part of a $70-million Main Street Development—led by McCaffery Interests—that aims to boost downtown renewal and preserve local history.  MassLive
