  • By December 2024, Massachusetts cable subscriptions dropped almost 45% from 2.19 million to under 1.2 million as more households switched to streaming apps. Comcast lost about 670,000 customers and now focuses on broadband and its streaming platform + Xfinity Mobile service while smaller providers struggle.  MassLive

  • Giselle Gains — a political newcomer — is running for School Committee in District 2 as she challenges incumbent Barbara Gresham. She answered a short questionnaire sent to all candidates ahead of Tuesday.  MassLive
  • Incumbent Christopher Collins and newcomer Rosa Valentin won the September preliminary for the District 3 School Committee race covering Wards 6 and 7 in Springfield. Voters will soon choose which experienced educator best meets the community’s needs (both bring long histories in education).  MassLive
  • Ayanna Crawford, a former educator and aide to state Rep. Orlando Ramos, is challenging incumbent Peter M. Murphy for the District 4 School Committee seat—she hopes to use her local experience and commitment to improve Springfield public schools.  MassLive
