  • State Sen. Adam Gómez is hosting his annual Hampden District Turkey Drive to deliver over 1,000 turkeys for Thanksgiving to families facing food insecurity in Springfield, Chicopee and Holyoke. Distribution starts today at 10 a.m. at Wycoff Country Club in Holyoke and continues Monday at 11 a.m. at the Indian Orchard Community Center on Main St. — local sponsors and volunteers are invited to support the effort.  MassLive
  • Today the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts will launch its milestone annual fundraiser with the first-ever Berkshire Mini-March in Pittsfield, starting at 9:30 a.m. at Hot Plate Brewing—marchers will join a 43-mile journey from Springfield to Greenfield on November 24 and 25.  BusinessWest

  • Madison Curbelo, a Westfield native and 'The Voice' semifinalist, will perform at MGM Springfield’s free tree lighting ceremony on November 28 at 5:15 p.m.—local mascots will also appear as the outdoor ice-skating rink officially opens and runs through Jan. 4.  MassLive

  • On Friday at Holyoke City Hall, organ transplant recipients expressed thanks for life-saving donations (giving them a new lease on life). New England Donor Services urges people to register as donors since many still wait for transplants.  Western Mass News

  • No. 2 seeded Longmeadow girls soccer team will play its first state championship game today at 2:30 p.m. at Doyle Field in Leominster—after a dominant semifinal win, they prepare to claim the title.  MassLive
  • The Patriots have a clearer path to win the AFC East after the Bills lost 23-19 to the Texans on Thursday—New England, at 9-2, already beat Buffalo once and can lose their rematch on Dec. 14 while still clinching the division. Predictive models now rate their chance at 90% as the Bills face a tougher schedule ahead.  MassLive
  • West Springfield earned its spot in the Division II boys soccer final after beating Northampton (1-0) in the semifinals, and today Duxbury meets West Springfield at Doyle Field in Leominster at (4:45 p.m.).  MassLive
  • Today at Curry College, No. 4 Monson will face No. 3 Hull in the Division V girls soccer state final with kickoff at 12:15 p.m. Monson, coming off a 2-1 loss and scoring 18 goals while allowing four, will challenge Hull, which recorded 22 goals during its tournament run—both teams aiming for the title.  MassLive
  • Five MIAA state semifinal football games will take place this weekend as top high school teams compete at neutral sites for a chance to win tickets to Gillette Stadium—Springfield Central faces Xaverian on Saturday at Milford High School while other matchups include St. John’s Prep against Central Catholic on Friday and additional games featuring unbeaten teams like Archbishop Williams and Lee. Each game, set in various divisions, will help decide which teams advance toward the championship in Foxborough.  MassLive
