CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ City officials and museum executives gathered this week to celebrate the completed restoration of the historic Kilroy House at Springfield Museums, a building built in 1905 where Dr. Philip Kilroy practiced medicine. Christopher Albrecht of Chris’ Carpentry spent a year restoring its unique thick stained-glass windows (featuring a fleur de lis and shamrock) and repairing its terracotta roof, with an overall project cost of about $800,000 (funded in part by the Community Preservation Act). - ➤ Springfield Museums is hosting its 16th annual Jurassic Gingerbread exhibit today through December 31—featuring over 50 creative gingerbread displays with dinosaur themes, a People’s Choice vote, and special holiday activities across museum attractions. MassLive

- ➤ Mayor Sarno sent a letter to Gov. Healey saying Mercy Medical Center will close its Family Life Center on Dec. 8 — a move that may hurt maternity care in Springfield and Western Mass. Patients will still get prenatal and postnatal care at Mercy but must go to Baystate for delivery, and the mayor asked for state help to restore this vital service. MassLive
