  • Toy for Joy marks its 103rd year by providing age-appropriate toys, books and games to children in Hampden, Hampshire and Franklin counties. Sponsored by the Salvation Army branches in Springfield, Holyoke and Greenfield, the drive nears its Christmas Eve deadline with volunteer pick-ups wrapping up soon.  MassLive
  • Downtown Springfield hosted the Coach Claus Mini-Parade that featured a red drumline along a festive route from Main Street to Union Station. I Found Light Against All Odds, a non-profit helping housing insecure young women, organized the event where Coach Claus handed out gifts to local children — adding holiday cheer.  Western Mass News

CULTURE NEWS

  • On Sunday, Dec. 14, the Springfield Jewish Community Center hosted a Hanukkah celebration with a candle lighting ceremony, latkes, and a service project for Jewish Family Services. The event concluded with the lighting of the largest outdoor menorah in western Massachusetts.  Western Mass News
  • Rock legend Juliana Hatfield will headline Live Music Friday at The Fabulous 413 studio on Friday, Dec. 19 + Tip Top Wine Shop will host Wine Thunderdome featuring Nirvani Williams as part of a local music showcase.  New England Public Media
