  • Mission-Rich Academy will host its first live leadership intensive — Feb. 12–13 — in Springfield, where nonprofit and micro-business leaders will learn strategies to build sustainable systems; ten local micro-business owners have received scholarships from the Latino Economic Development Corporation.  MassLive

CULTURE NEWS

  • Springfield celebrated the first day of Kwanzaa yesterday at City Hall where Mayor Domenic Sarno declared Kwanzaa Week and honored local community members. Today, the Community Kwanzaa Festival offers vendors, live performances and a keynote speaker at the Boys and Girls Club Family Center on Acorn Street.  Western Mass News
  • The local Kwanzaa collective will host its annual proclamation event (celebrating heritage) to honor cultural traditions and invite community members to join (at a downtown center) in Springfield.  Western Mass News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • In anticipation of winter weather, local tow truck drivers in Springfield are checking equipment (including tire chains and extra safety gear) and adjusting shifts to ensure prompt roadside assistance as icy conditions are predicted later this week.  Western Mass News
